The 1990 FA Cup Final was a football match contested by Manchester United and Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium, London, England. The match finished 3 3 after extra time. Bryan Robson and Mark Hughes scored for United, Gary O'Reilly and Ian Wright for Palace. Ian Wright had only recently returned from a broken leg that kept him out of the semi-final. In the replay, United won 1-0 with a goal from Lee Martin - only the second goal he would score for the club. It saw them match Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur's record of seven FA Cup triumphs. Crystal Palace, in contrast, had never played in either an FA Cup or Football League Cup final before. The month before the final, UEFA had announced that the ban on English clubs in European competitions would be lifted for the 1990-91 season, provided that England fans behaved well at that summer's World Cup. England fans duly behaved well at the tournament, and this gave the green light to United to compete in the 1990-91 European Cup Winners' Cup, which they ultimately won.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The 2010 Football League Cup Final was the final match of the 2009 10 Football League Cup, the 50th season of the Football League Cup, a football competition for the 92 teams in the Premier League and The Football League. The match, played at Wembley Stadium on 28 February 2010, was won by Manchester United, who beat Aston Villa 2 1. Aston Villa took the lead in the fifth minute of the game, via a James Milner penalty kick, but Michael Owen equalised for Manchester United less than 10 minutes later. Wayne Rooney, who replaced the injured Owen shortly before half time, scored the winning goal with 16 minutes left to play. The win gave Manchester United their fourth Football League Cup title, their third in five years and their second in succession, becoming the first team to retain the trophy since Nottingham Forest in 1990. They went into the match as defending champions, having beaten Tottenham Hotspur on penalties in the 2009 final. Unless they qualify for European competition via the 2009 10 Premier League, this win guarantees Manchester United a place in the 2010 11 UEFA Europa League.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Ruel Adrian Fox (born 14 January 1968 in Ipswich) is a former English football player of Montserratian and Antiguan descent who played for Norwich City, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Bromwich Albion from 1986 to 2002. Fox made his senior debut for Norwich City during the 1986 87 season in a Full Members Cup match against Coventry City and made his league debut against Oxford United at Carrow Road a few days later. After several seasons of being a substitute and finding it difficult to hold down a regular first team spot, he eventually established himself and played an important part in the 1992 93 and 1993 94 campaigns, which were arguably two of the best in the club's history. He was a fast, tricky winger who was a handful for defenders and provided good crosses.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Herbert Henry "Dally" Messenger was an Australian rugby union and rugby league footballer, recognised as one of the latter game's greatest ever players. Messenger, or 'The Master' as he was dubbed, represented his country in both rugby football codes, playing two rugby union tests and seven rugby league tests. He was also offered contracts by English soccer clubs, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, but refused them on the principle that soccer was decadent. Messenger had a stocky build, and while standing only about 172 cm in height, he was a powerful runner of the ball and solid defender. According to his peers the centre's greatest attributes were his unpredictability and astonishing physical co-ordination, coupled with a freakish ability to kick goals from almost any part of the ground. He was a teetotaller and non-smoker during his career and other than breakfast, Messenger would rarely eat before a match.
